Never Say Never from Three Boys and a Mom

Before you become a parent, there is usually a list of things you say you’ll never do. That list looks different for every one, but I’m pretty sure grabbing poop with your bare hand doesn’t even make the cut. It’s just not something you’d think would be necessary to specify on a list of things you’ll never do.

This delicious sandwich by Giada De Laurentiis is an ideal appetizer or lunch. Simply follow her recipe below and enjoy! I did substitute pepperoni for the prosciutto and I rolled the dough into a rectangle rather than a circle.
The pizza dough is often found in the deli or bakery department of most grocery stores. You can now find gluten free pizza dough as well in some stores.

The sons have a love hate relationship with pickles. They either love them, or hate them. They’re firmly, and equally, entrenched on their sides with two for and two against. The hubs and I bolster each side with him against their salty, briny taste and me all for it! I’ve always got a family size jar in the fridge just for when one of us needs a pickled fix. Then I got a deal this summer from our local farmers market that resulted in us getting several pounds of free cucumbers. I couldn’t let those beauties go to waste, but wasn’t looking for anything in-depth that involved pectin and canning.

Fitness Fridays – A Slightly New Direction

Fitness Fridays is BACK!!

Last week, I took a very short hiatus from Fitness Fridays. I decided to take the time to regroup and refocus on what I wanted out of these posts, because what I previously had wasn’t really working. Well, it was working, but it wasn’t what I had in mind when I decided to revive these from the dead.

I find my Fitness Friday posts to be very motivational and inspirational because I am forced to come here and report to the internet at large, what my goals are and whether I met them. There is nothing that holds me more accountable than not wanting to report a failure to my readers (or anyone, really).

I decided to keep these weekly posts light on the advice (with the occasional advice post, when I have something I really want to share) and heavy on how the week went for me, what worked, what didn’t, etc. I don’t want that to be relegated to the very bottom of the post. For me, the whole purpose of this is to be like an online journal where I share my trials and tribulations, keep myself motivated and maybe inspire someone else in the process.

So, I’m hoping you’ll join me on this new and improved expedition!! There won’t be a link-up at this time, but I’ll re-evaluate that as time marches on.

For now, I hope that you can except my brutal honesty towards myself and support me as I do so. Ready? Set… GO!

Fitness Fridays-BabyDoodah 8-1-14

Fitness Fridays…… Renewed!

Week of 7/26/14 – 8/1/14

This was a hell of a week! It was my first full week back since being on vacation and I wasn’t happy about that, so I was really caught up in the emotions of work and not really paying attention to my eating or exercise. However, I did manage to keep my nutrition to at least a 7 (out of 10), for the majority of the week.

I got back into drinking my Shakeology, which keeps a lot of my cravings at bay, but I was still wanting salty / carby foods, thanks to PMS. I did manage to eat lots of veggies all week long, which helped keep me full and away from the junk. I didn’t weigh-in this week, because I just didn’t want to face the music AND I’m considering taking the scale out of my life, at least for the near future, (more to come on this in future posts).

But, while my eating was around a 7 all week, my exercise was a big FAT 0. 🙁 I felt low in energy all week, and just couldn’t find the get up and go to get a workout done. I did walk with Emmett a lot, but no intense sweat sessions. I do realize, that if I had worked out, that low energy probably would have gone away, I’d have felt amaze-balls (yes! I did just say that). 🙂

I do want to say one thing, and it is a REALLY important thing. I refuse to beat myself up any more, for anything. Whether it be a lack of motivation to workout, or the way I naturally react to a situation. I’m sick and tired of always hating the way I am, or the way I look. In order to overcome that I need to change my mindset, and realize that I am okay the way I am. I’m not saying no to self-improvement, but I am saying no to beating myself up for not being 100% amazing RIGHT NOW.

Fitness / Food Goals for the next week:

  1. Complete the 3 Day Refresh! I start on Monday! I’m kind of nervous, but I can do anything for 3 days, right!?
  2. Workout 4 times. Beachbody recommends that you do light to no exercise during the refresh, due to the lower number of calories you’re taking in, because of this, I am aiming for 4 workouts, instead of 6 or 7.
  3. I will keep my nutrition at a 7 out of 10.

Your turn!

What do you think of the new (again) format of Fitness Fridays?

Share one or all of your goals in the comments below, let’s hold each other accountable!!

Sunday Meal Plan – Week #24

Phew! Is it really Sunday evening already? Boo!!

We had such a fantastic weekend. We had no set plans, but we managed to enjoy ourselves fully!! Saturday, Seamus took Emmett to run a few errands and then to the playground for some father / son bonding time. 🙂 Not really, it was more because momma had a lot of work to get done and Seamus was thoughtful enough to take him out.

And, because my husband rocks my socks, he came home with a gorgeous Peace Lily. I’m SO lucky! Not only does my husband take our kiddo out so that I can get work done, but then comes home with gifts. Love him! 😀

That evening we went out for pizza, mainly because we had forgotten to pull anything out of the freezer for dinner. Whoops! Not that I minded pizza, though! We went to Blasdell Pizza for their chicken finger pizza which is amazing. We don’t go out there often because it’s a bit of a trek, but it’s always well worth it when we go.

When we got home, Emmett wanted to watch the movie we got him for his birthday, The Lego Movie. We got it mainly because the main character’s name is Emmet (with only one t), but also because it looked good, and it DID NOT disappoint. Super cute!!

Sunday, was an even more laid back day. I got up early, around 5, made coffee and went right to work on some things for the blog and for my fitness business. (BTW – It really does feel fantastic to be so motivated!) Once Emmett started stirring, I went in and got him and we all cuddled in bed together for almost an hour. It was HEAVEN!!! Eventually we showered and made our way to Wegmans, but it was so nice to be so leisurely.

After shopping, we had lunch, Emmett napped (I also napped) and then we went out for Ice Cream to our local favorite spot, Anderson’s. Afterward, we, of course, had to make a quick pit stop to a playground, then back home to play in the backyard.

It really was such a lovely weekend, I’m REALLY sad to see it go!! 🙁

Anyhoo – Onto the Sunday meal plan!

Sunday-Meal-Plan---Baby-Doodah-727

Sunday – Scrounge around house

Monday – Hamburgers & Oven fries

Tuesday – Fish Tacos & Fresh Veggies (carry-over)

Wednesday – Mediterranean Stuffed Chicken (from TJs) & roasted red potatoes

Thursday – Orange Chicken & Rice

Friday – Mexican Pizzas

Saturday – Teriyaki Pork Loin & Cauliflower

A pretty simple week, which always leads to us sticking to the menu!! We need to start budgeting better and eating out less, that’s for sure!

I’m linking up with Laura from Mommy, Run Fast! and Jill from jillconyers.com

Your turn!

I’d love to hear what you have on the menu for the week? I’m always looking for new ideas!

Maniac Mom

Maniac Mom

Hi! I’m Kristen! I’m a stay-at-home mom of one stupendous little boy, Chase (August 2012), and one stunning little girl, Skylar (February 2014). My favorite by far is my current occupation. I’m married to a wonderful man, Kyle, who makes it possible to do so. This was started as a memento for my children, so when they got older, they could learn more about me and the person I was as well as the mother I grew into. As time went on, it morphed into something much more. I suffer from depression and anxiety. I also show signs of a developing bi-polar condition and have gone through two stays at a mental health hospital. Through this site, I will share my journey though being a depressed mother and how I handle life. I’ve become an advocate and a supporter of making depression less taboo, less hidden, and I challenge people, not just moms, everywhere to break the silence. I’m also starting a campaign to bring it to the attention of the general public the massive amount of work needed to make the mental health care system better.

Hi! I’m Jennie, a wifey, mommy, and a child of God. And the girl behind the blog The Diary of a Real Housewife. Welcome to my little part of the world. I’m a stay at home mom who loves to write, cook, and spend time with my littles. I spend my days reading books to my boys, changing lots of diapers, folding loads and load and yeah more loads of laundry. And I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I love dancing around the kitchen with my kids, and hanging out at home with my hubby watching Netflix. I started this blog originally to keep family and friends updated with the boys (boy at the start) since my family lives hours away. My goal for my blog is today is to be a place for other moms to feel encouraged. I post super easy recipes that will hopefully help getting dinner on the table easier and try and post encouraging words to help moms understand that they are not alone in this journey!

North of Something

Hello, I’m Jamie! I currently live in Hawaii with my husband, who is in the Army, along with our three year old son. This blog is for people who love to travel, or haven’t traveled much but want to start, and also the reluctant traveler that may be moving to new parts of the world courtesy of the U.S. Military. As a military wife, I get to move around a lot to different homes in different cities, but no matter where we live, we are always north of something – always close enough to explore the culture and nature that surrounds us. And a big trip to a dreamed about destination every once in awhile is pretty great too! I write to inspire other travelers (and those who hope to) to explore the world and encounter the unknown with open hearts. This is the only life we get – let’s get out there and really SEE this beautiful world we live in.

Whether it’s about health, art and design, travel, or my personal life, you can always expect great ideas and tips as well as something funny or interesting. I started The Art of Sipping Coffee lifestyle blog because it allows me to fulfill two of my many passions, writing and designing. This blog started out as a way to track our time abroad in Taiwan allowing our family and friends to share in our experiences. Then I changed my mind (like always) and decided that I didn’t only want to write about travel, but that I have many other things I would like to share with the world. I also wanted a blog that could evolve with me as time goes on. I wanted something that could change with my age and interests. Thus, The Art of Sipping Coffee.

Finding Crystal

Hey y’all! My name is Crystal and I’m from the Upstate of South Carolina. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two furbabies. I have a degree in English and Psychology and had all the intentions in the world to be an English teacher. However, God had other plans for my life. I have lived with chronic health problems all of my life. These include several open heart surgeries, asthma, and depression with anxiety. Recently I was diagnosed with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and chronic anemia. I have also struggled with losing weight and food addiction. I am an amateur blogger with a love for learning, animals, movies, a little too much TV, couponing, spending time with family, and writing. I am also a book devourer, Lupus warrior, social media addict, among many other titles.

Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy

Welcome! I am Shaunacey. Wife to Brent (aka Mr. B), first-time mom to Annabelle (aka mini-me) and mom to fur-child, Lilo. I work full-time, love to cook and bake (and eat), love to shop, like to (try) and be crafty and LOVE to laugh. I am a fast-talker, deep-thinker and loud-laugher. It seems that I am either taking life too seriously or not seriously enough. As a first-time mom I feel like I don’t know what I am doing a lot of the time and I am learning ALL of the time. Even though I have no clue what I am doing, I love EVERY second. She makes it easy. Like everyone, I’m trying to find the perfect balance and I’m not there just yet. I want to be a great wife, mom, friend and employee and I want to look good doing it. That shouldn’t be that hard, right?

A Couple Things

Hey everybody! It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of my “couple things” posts. I thought I’d take this opportunity to do just that.

1. Fitness Fridays – They’re going to be a little different around here. Kathy, my co-host has decided to take a break from writing on her blog for a “to be determined length of time.” If you were an avid reader or visitor of her blog, be sure to stop on over and wish her well!!

In the meantime, I am planning on continuing with Fitness Fridays, with a break today because I wanted to cover a couple things. 🙂 I also will be doing some brainstorming on how to make it bigger. I don’t want anything huge, but I’d like to reach more blogs, get more people to link-up or get involved. If you’re interested in teaming-up, feel free to comment below or email me at jillianokeefe1022@gmail.com

2. TheSkimm – I am deeply in love with TheSkimm. Every morning, Monday-Friday, I get an email in my inbox, BRIGHT AND EARLY, with a rundown on the day’s news. Now, you’re probably wondering why you would want to sign-up for something new when you have the internet at your disposal. Well here’s the answer, #1 TheSkimm is free to sign-up for and #2, the news descriptions they provide are brief, to the point and explained in a manner that anyone can understand. I have felt tremendously more educated about the world’s events since joining them. Below is a snapshot of what their daily email looks like.

3. Beachbody – I am slowly but surely working and learning the ropes of the Beachbody community. It’s a lot of fun and I’m learning SO much. I actually just ordered the 3 Day Refresh and PiYO. I can’t wait to receive them!! I also have a 13 day clean eating challenge beginning on August 4th. If you’re interested in learning more about it, please comment below or email me. I’d be happy to send along the information, I just need commitment by July 28th.

4. A GIVEAWAY! Yay! My final update for today is that I’m joining Logan from Logan Can… in celebrating her 2 year blogaversary! She’s hosting a really great giveaway that you NEED to be a part of. Enter using the Rafflecopter widget below and be sure to stop over to her blog and say HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY, Logan!!!

Wirl-Mamas

Wirl Mamas

The story of Wirl Mamas came about when four moms decided there needed to be a site where real people can go to find real answers, interact with others and escape the everyday pressures of being a superhero. There needed to be a place where the “unspoken” lived and the “stories they never tell you” finally come out. After chatting over numerous playdates and coffee breaks we came up with the idea to share with the world What Its Really Like (WIRL) to be a Mama, Moma-to-be and/or a parent on one all-inclusive website. We found that it was exhausting to search forum after forum, page after page just to come up with a whole lot of jumbled thoughts that confused us even more, who has time for that? Instead, we created our blog to inform and connect with others, always sharing our honest opinions about what it was really like for us, even when its not pretty.

Just Mi!

I’ve been blogging for a little over a year now. I realize that people are looking at this page to get a picture of who I am, so I want to keep it current. I don’t consider myself new to blogging anymore, but I definitely haven’t had the time to devote to my blogging like I’ve wanted to. There are still a lot of things I have to learn about blogging, but that’s what makes it exciting! The original intent of my blog was to chronicle my hair journey. I’ve also taken to blogging about myself and some of the things I get into in my every day life. My blog is like a diary. I like to explore myself here and share that with you. My life is changing daily and I’ll use my blog to talk about it! So stay tuned!! I’m about to take you all on a joy ride!

My Creative Days

Hello! I’m Lindsay and I am thrilled you are here on My Creative Days! I started this little blog in April of 2013. I wanted an outlet to let my creative juices flow. I love to be creative in my day, my home and with my kids. I am obsessed with old wood, rusty treasures and everything in between. Finding frugal and creative ways to decorate our home, create a fun craft or do an activity with the kids is a passion of mine. And now, being able to express my ideas on this blog is a dream come true.

After Eleven

After Eleven: a blog created to journal life’s precious moments with hopes of one day passing it down to my kiddos. I want my kids to be able to look back at memories of their childhood. (and we all know scrapbooking just isn’t keeping up with today’s technology…so I chose this route). When they wonder what the style was “back then” they can just look back at this blog on my W.I.W. posts and be able to laugh at the ridiculous things I wore. I want them to be able to see love stories about their mom and dad. I want them to be able to look back and read the things that were on my heart at certain seasons in life and how each situation was handled. Along the way of creating this fun little journal for my family, I hope to make some new blogging buddies!
