My Finds Friday – Link Up

Happy My Finds Friday!

Who else besides me is super excited to be here again? At Friday, that is. I can’t even say it was a bad week, I just love the weekends so much. I love spending the time with my family, even if we’ll be spending most of it packing. 🙂 Tomorrow is also Super Saturday at Sears, so we’ll be spending part of our afternoon at Sears buying a new washer and dryer for our new home. I’m actually really psyched about this! I’ve never owned my own washer and dryer and for some reason I feel really grown-up going out to buy a set.

So what’s on our agenda for the weekend? Not much. We’ll be packing, going to Sears (as mentioned above) and then grocery shopping on Sunday. Despite the packing, it should be a pretty restful weekend… love those!

Now – Time for My Finds Friday!

Top Three Blog Articles I’m Lovin’

  • Emmett’s a pretty active toddler, flying from one activity to the next, but he doesn’t seem to be too out of control. However, one day he may need a break and a chance to calm down, this “Calm Down” jar by Daily Mom is a fantastic idea. One I will be keeping in my back pocket for the future.
  • It’s not secret around these parts that I struggle with my eating. Part of the problem is my all or nothing mentality, in this article on Science-Based Medicine, it talks about the book The Diet Fix, and the logic behind it. There are no gimics or quick fixes (which we all know), but there is also no reason to cut certain foods out if you don’t have negative effects from them. This is definitely a book I will be looking into.
  • In the same vain, this article on Mind, Body, Green, discusses the phases in which you can completely eliminate sugar from your diet. It’s a quick read and very comprehensive.

Top Video of the Week

A friend of mine shared this video with me earlier in the week and the end had me crying, I was laughing so hard.

Top Recipe of The Week

This delicious Paleo breakfast casserole is something you should make this weekend. I made it Sunday and split it up and took it all week long. Super delicious! It tasted great with some hot sauce sprinkled on top, as well.

Top Workout of the Week

Okay, this isn’t a specific workout, but it is a workout timer that has shown to be very effective over the last couple of weeks. Twice a day a few of my co-workers and I have been meeting to do a certain exercise in the Tabata Format, and this app, Tabata-Timer is awesome! It works perfectly and is so simple to use. I recommend you download it and go down some Tabatas right now!

My Finds Friday – Paleo

Happy Friday! Time for My Finds Friday, Paleo edition.

It’s Friday, which means that my vacation is nearly over. I always have such grand plans for my time off, and it always seems to fall short. All I wanted to do was get my house in order and get a bunch of extra blog articles written so that I was ahead and wasn’t constantly waiting till the night of, to write a post. I love this blog and I feel like it deserves more than an hour a night that I’ve been able to dedicate to it. Unfortunately, the extra blog posts didn’t happen, life did, and so I’m in the same spot I was prior to vacation. On top of that, I didn’t do any cleaning, I just had no desire to spend my time away from work, cleaning up my house. It definitely isn’t gross, just cluttered and dusty, it could use a once over with a vacuum and a dust cloth.

So, what have I done? A lot of relaxing, (ie: watching TV, napping, and reading), we celebrated our anniversary, went to the Buffalo Zoo (post coming soon), and just spent time just being. Sometimes that’s all you need to recoup yourself and feel refreshed and ready to take on your normal day to day tasks.

And now, My Finds Friday!

I mentioned above that I did some reading over vacation, I began reading The Paleo Manifesto and it is filled with a lot of good information. Since I am being inspired by this book, I thought I’d focus this week’s My Finds Friday on all things Paleo.

Alrighty, those are my finds for the week. I hope you visit them all and give them some love! Also, if you have some of your own finds, Paleo or otherwise, feel free to link-up below. I love seeing what you come up with!

My Finds Friday – Recipes

I thought it would be great to share some Fall recipes on this week’s My Finds Friday.

Who doesn’t love Friday? Not me! I adore Friday. Especially, a Friday before a week’s vacation. I am so excited to have next week off to relax, watch TV, blog, read, nap and be with my family. It is going to be heaven!

It’s been a pretty good week, a little bit of stress here and there and one crappy day, but overall it was a good week. Yesterday, I did my first CrossFit workout and it was AWESOME! It was super difficult but afterward I felt so bad ass. I worked myself like I’d never been worked before and I sweat more than I’d ever sweated in an hour. I was soaked afterward, but I was so proud of myself and my mood was soaring! I’ll be going back. 🙂 In case you’re interested, I went to CrossFit Amherst. I highly recommend them, if you live in this area, or are just visiting and need a box to workout in.

On to today’s My Finds Friday – Recipes.

I had a hard time deciding what this week’s focus should be because there’s been a lot going on with me. In the end, I decided on recipes because I’ve “liked” and “pinned” a bunch, plus it’s the time of year for cooking an baking. What better place to share them, than here!?

 Here. We. Go.

  • The first recipe up is one inspired by my CrossFit workout yesterday, Paleo Chicken Tortilla-less Soup. Many CrossFit athletes follow a Paleo diet, which excludes grains, hence why this is called Tortilla-less soup. Doesn’t that sound delicious?
  • These sound like an awesome replacement for the ClifBars I’ve been taking almost daily, PB and Fruit Protein Balls. When I have my coffee in the morning, I just love having something sweet to go along with it, these would work perfectly.
  • Pancakes! I bug Seamus to make pancakes almost every Sunday but we always skip making them because they’re either too involved or take too many ingredients. You’d think that wouldn’t be an issue, but we have a kitchen with VERY limited counter space, so making a recipe with many ingredients is tough. These OMG. Pancakes! Sound delicious and fairly easy to make. And PS: they’re Paleo!
  • Completely and utterly unhealthy, but these sound amazeballs. Crispy Fried Goat Cheese – I don’t think they need much more description then their title. Mmmm!
  • And of course, soup. What would Fall be without soup?? My personal favorite is this Baked Potato Soup Recipe that I shared last week. Seamus made it for us a couple weeks back, it was fantastic and made really amazing leftovers.

Alright, that’s it, some of my favorite recipes from the last week.
