Fitness Fridays – #4

Oh yes, folks – It’s Friday!! Though, a lot of folks had off today, so yesterday was their Friday.

I’m so excited for this long weekend! We don’t have a lot planned, but it is shaping up to be productive, purposeful and fun. 🙂

First up, I’d like to thank Rebecca from Flex and Shout Fitness, for stopping by and linking up. Please stop on over and give her some love!! She has a great circuit workout on the post I linked up there, make sure you pin it for future use.

This week’s Fitness Fridays is a bit different, Kathy is taking a week off, but I wanted to post this week for two reasons – number 1 being so I can talk about my weight loss (we’ll get to that in a bit), and number 2 is because I want to keep the routine going. I tend to get lazy if I stop a routine. So, here I am!

This week week I decided that I would talk a little bit about…

[Tweet “How I Find Motivation in the Darkest of Moments.”]

It’s no secret that I have struggled with depression, I’ve talked about it on here and in my in personal life. My moods swing up and down, but lately, they’ve been swinging more UP! I’m really happy that I can say that it isn’t just happening, I’m working hard at it. I am doing things to make my life better and stronger!

Fitness Fridays Baby Doodah

Here are my Top 3 tips I use to keep my motivation for life UP!

1. Wake-up and Make No Excuses!  On those days when I wake up at 4:30 in the morning and I don’t feel like doing anything but hitting snooze and the pillow, I literally force myself out of bed, I won’t except no for an answer. Once I’m up and moving I tell myself that I need to move around, make my coffee, sit at the table and think, anything but lay on the couch for at least 10 minutes. 9 times out of 10, once that time has passed I’m awake enough to get my workout in and don’t feel like laying down, wasting the quiet time. That workout is KEY to my happiness, right now!

2. Follow Health and Fitness Accounts on Instagram. If you’re about to consider eating that doughnut or skipping that workout, open Instagram and skim through the hundreds of thousdands of motivational pictures there. You have inspirational quotes, before and after photos and even short videos of people working out. People post healthy recipes, or short-burst workouts, the motivation is endless. I use IG a lot to find my motivation when I’m struggling. Something about other people accomplishing their goals moves me to mine. You can follow my IG account here: Jillian41681

3. Surround Yourself with People that Motivate and Inspire you. I know this seems like a given, but so many people don’t understand the necessity of having people who like to workout and eat well in your life. These are people who are a walking billboard for health. They’re the ones that kick your a** when you say you don’t feel like working out today, or that you’re going to eat that delicious cupcake. They’re also the ones who praise you and high five you when you do EPIC sh*t! 🙂

Those are my top three! I’d love to hear about yours in the comments!

Now Onto the Goals

Amount of Weight Lost

Are you ready for this…………..?

3.2 lbs!! Bringing my grand total to 4.8 lbs! I am .2 away from my first reward. Yay!

This is what happens when you work the program. I’m still following the 21 Day Fix (if you’re interested in learning more about the program, please email me at jillianokeefe1022@gmail.com), and it is working AWESOME!

I haven’t taken my measurements yet, but I will as soon as I get a chance. However, I know I have lost lots, because my tight pants are no longer tight. WOOHOO!  😀

Exercise Goals

I wasn’t completely successful, but I am not disappointed in the effort that I put in. I did 6 workouts, but only once a day. I just couldn’t squeeze in that 2nd workout. I need to work on that!

Next week’s goal is to continue with the 21 Day Fix, doing 6 workouts and then 2 days of running or biking outdoors. Getting outside and in the sun will really benefit me.

Food Goals

Before I go into what my goal was and will be next week, I want to share that I have not had an emotional binge or any other type of binge in 3 weeks. That’s not to say that I haven’t had some junk foods (ie: pizza), but I did not binge. I ate a normal, healthy amount, and felt no guilt! THIS IS HUGE! I’ll be talking more about this next week. I honestly truly feel like I can attribute this curbing of cravings to Shakeology. The stuff is so darn good, makes me feel good and has cut out most of my cravings. And the ones I do get, I am getting better at ignoring, or finding ways to cope with them.

Alright, last week, I stated I wanted to continue with the 21 Day Fix meal plan and Shakeology. I did both to a T! Go me!

Next week, I will continue to stick to the 21 Fix Meal Plan and Shakeology (love this stuff!).

If you’re wondering the reason for me continuing with the 21 Day Fix Meal Plan, it’s because it is so easy to use. The different colored containers and the lists of foods that you can eat, make it completely fool proof.

If you’re interested in learning more about 21 Day Fix or Shakeology, I can provide you with information on both. Please email me at jillianokeefe1022@gmail.com I’d love to hear from you!

Okay that about does it, be sure to link-up your posts below, I love reading them and highlighting your blogs on mine. Let’s grow our followings together!

Your turn!

City of Creative Dreams -6831396452713095161 “My name is Shanice. I’m a playwright/actress. I love just about everything creative. If I wasn’t organizing, I was writing a story or a play or acting or re-designing somewhere in my home. My room was a canvas for my creative ideas… Now that I am currently a stay at home mom. I needed a new activity to do on my spare time in between my son’s naps and taking care of my siblings. I love writing and creating new things! Which makes this the perfect place to share affordable creative ideas of mine that floats into my head. When you can’t find something that suits you perfectly then create it! I hope you find a some inspiration, some design and something you will love to create yourself. ”

Barbie Bieber and Beyond – Raising Girls About Me “Hi everyone!!!!! I am a Mum to 4 girls ranging in age from 6 to 16 years of age. I live in Sydney Australia with my husband and girls which provide me with many challenges in day to day life. We are a very close family who try to have some fun everyday while navigating the ins and outs of problems that many families in todays society face. Girls have their own unique set of challenges and having 4 scattered over a period of 10 years I am navigating all the different challenges from child, tween to teen all at the one time. That can be very daunting and scary at times but also I think it places me in an interesting position to be able to write from all aspects of girls through childhood and on to adolescents. I started blogging to give me another outlet during my day, with my youngest off to school next year I am faced with not having a child in the house during school hours, something I have not dealt with in over 15 years! So what better way than to share my insights into girls and maybe pass on some valuable tips and tricks to fellow Mums. I am open to all sorts of questions, but be aware that all opinions are just those, opinions!!! I don’t profess to know everything about girls, what person does??? especially the teenage girl! However if we can share our ideas together maybe things may not seem so hard sometimes.”

I am a lover of Christ and seek his face, goodness and will every day. I believe the bible is TRUTH and stand firm in it. I am a baby lover. I’m especially head over heels for my 2 year old, Halston. As a single mom, I have a VERY special bond with him and I just love watching him learn and grow. I am a foodie, and nutrition fanatic which leads to some serious “should I or shouldn’t I” anxiety. I work full-time as a Managing Director for a boutique staffing company. I love to write, blog and vlog. I am passionate about sharing my heart and story with strangers. Sounds weird but, true. I started this blog because I believe sharing truth, struggle and triumph is what builds true relationships. I want to share from my heart in hopes of helping someone to step out of their solitude or feel a sense of belonging. I also have felt the Lord tugging at my heart to be bold in initiating more relationships and building a community. I pray that I will be transparent and create open communication with readers like you. In this blog there will be DIY posts, posts about party planning, love, parenting, faith, struggles, empowerment, fashion, beauty, food and anything else that I feel called to write about. I hope that I can help, teach, comfort, lend an idea or become a friend as I document this Wilde life!”

Brenda Blogs About… sherry_family_0032 “Welcome to my little corner of the blogoverse. I started my very first blog forever ago during my first year of law school – at the suggestion of my grandmother, of all people, so that she (and other family members) could keep up with my 180 in life (going from starving artist to starving law student). That was back when people would ask, “what’s a blog?” After 1L, I kind of let the blog dwindle. Then I started a new one where I mostly ended up sharing recipes. It wasn’t until I got pregnant and started this blog, that I started regularly posting again. This blog is about my adventures in working mommyhood. I tend to post about once a week, sometimes more – but I am a working mom and sometimes (ok, often) life gets in the way. I’d love to write even more, and have made several resolutions in the past to write more often, which I’ll do for about a week or two – and then I’ll go a week and a half without posting anything . . . such is the life of a busy working mom.”

Here are the Featured posts from last week!

family time

Tenns chose Time Management for Bloggers Part 4-Family Time from The Mom Maven. “I chose this post, because I think bloggers are always looking for better ways to balance the world of family and other priorities. It can be challenging at times, especially with some many things being very time consuming. This post gives a great breakdown of the different things bloggers can do ahead of time to keep a balance and not get overwhelmed or burnt out. Time management is crucial for all of us, but especially for those of us that wear multiple hats and have a full plate.”

Picasso-Flower-Art

Debbie chose Picasso Flower Art with 1st Graders from Krafts & Kiddos. “I love this idea of using hands to create such sweet pictures. I adore things that incorporate the hands and feet so one day when the kiddos are grown and big we can see just how tiny they were.”

builtin8

Katie chose Mud Pit to Built-In Bench from The Coconut Head’s Cancer Survival Guide. “What a transformation! I would love to do something similar in our backyard! The space went from a useless mudpit (literally) to a gorgeous patio space for relaxing and entertaining! Looks like something out of a magazine!!”

How-To-Pinterest-board-covers1

Katy chose Make Your Own Pinterest Board Covers from Houseologic. “MAJOR FAVE!!!! Can’t wait to tackle this. :)”

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA

Carolyn chose Setting Parenting Goals from Travel Parent Eat. ” I though Anne made a lot of good points about not only setting goals for parenting, but achieving them as well!”

bananacaramelcupcakes51

Cathy chose Banana Caramel Cupcakes from Annie’s Noms. “Banana Caramel Cupcakes sound like the perfect dessert for hubby and I. I love bananas and he loves caramel. I can’t wait to make these!”

_MG_0425

Jillian chose Just The One from Boogers Are Yucky. “She write about her feelings towards having a second child, and why she’s sticking with just the one. It really hit a chord with me because I continue to go back and forth about having more kids. Such a great read!”

affording-large-family

Rebecca chose 8 Tips for Affording A Large Family from Fruitful Families. “I chose this because although I only have one child (and I sometimes find it a struggle with just him!), I have always wondered how both mine and my partners large families could afford the essential items such as food, household items etc and this shows just how to cope with having a larger family.”

Jessica also chose this post. “I love this post because it works for EVERY family big and small. As someone who has been laid off on a few occasions, the tips have helped me try to stay afloat, even now with a job! Thanks for sharing!”

acowboyslife raisingboys

Cindy chose Why I Love Raising a Boy from A Cowboy’s Life. “As a mom of 2 boys, now ages 19 and 21, this post made me smile. I would add that the bond between a mom and her boys is something special. Even now that my 19yo is a full-time missionary traveling the US telling teens about Jesus and my 21yo is getting married in a few months, the bond we have and the time we spend together is precious. Boys of all ages love to have fun and they have very little drama. I love being a mama to boys!”

garden5

Rhonda chose A Stroll Through The Garden from The Coconut Head’s Cancer Survival Guide. “This post was very welcoming and lifted my spirits. I really wanted to enter her garden, the roses were stunning. Great photography skills!”

momssay

Stacey chose “I said WHAAAT?!” Sometimes Moms Say the Darndest Things, Too from Just a Touch of Crazy. “This is amazing and just goes to show that once we become parents we just lose our minds! What a great post and thank you so much for sharing!”

Natasha also chose this post. “It’s so true – children can make you really say the darndest things. I have said almost everything on this list at some time, but I loved reading about another mom saying the same things! Great post!”

Free-Nursery-Printables-Main-1

Rachel chose Free Nursery Printables {SohoSonnet Guest Post} from View From The Fridge. “These are gorgeous! It is so well done and the paper looks like real wood!”

20140519_195438

Ce Ce chose Strawberries and Graham Crackers from Home Is Where The Heart Is. “I love her little ideas on food for kids!”
