Wirl-Mamas

Wirl Mamas

The story of Wirl Mamas came about when four moms decided there needed to be a site where real people can go to find real answers, interact with others and escape the everyday pressures of being a superhero. There needed to be a place where the “unspoken” lived and the “stories they never tell you” finally come out. After chatting over numerous playdates and coffee breaks we came up with the idea to share with the world What Its Really Like (WIRL) to be a Mama, Moma-to-be and/or a parent on one all-inclusive website. We found that it was exhausting to search forum after forum, page after page just to come up with a whole lot of jumbled thoughts that confused us even more, who has time for that? Instead, we created our blog to inform and connect with others, always sharing our honest opinions about what it was really like for us, even when its not pretty.

Just Mi!

I’ve been blogging for a little over a year now. I realize that people are looking at this page to get a picture of who I am, so I want to keep it current. I don’t consider myself new to blogging anymore, but I definitely haven’t had the time to devote to my blogging like I’ve wanted to. There are still a lot of things I have to learn about blogging, but that’s what makes it exciting! The original intent of my blog was to chronicle my hair journey. I’ve also taken to blogging about myself and some of the things I get into in my every day life. My blog is like a diary. I like to explore myself here and share that with you. My life is changing daily and I’ll use my blog to talk about it! So stay tuned!! I’m about to take you all on a joy ride!

My Creative Days

Hello! I’m Lindsay and I am thrilled you are here on My Creative Days! I started this little blog in April of 2013. I wanted an outlet to let my creative juices flow. I love to be creative in my day, my home and with my kids. I am obsessed with old wood, rusty treasures and everything in between. Finding frugal and creative ways to decorate our home, create a fun craft or do an activity with the kids is a passion of mine. And now, being able to express my ideas on this blog is a dream come true.

After Eleven

After Eleven: a blog created to journal life’s precious moments with hopes of one day passing it down to my kiddos. I want my kids to be able to look back at memories of their childhood. (and we all know scrapbooking just isn’t keeping up with today’s technology…so I chose this route). When they wonder what the style was “back then” they can just look back at this blog on my W.I.W. posts and be able to laugh at the ridiculous things I wore. I want them to be able to see love stories about their mom and dad. I want them to be able to look back and read the things that were on my heart at certain seasons in life and how each situation was handled. Along the way of creating this fun little journal for my family, I hope to make some new blogging buddies!

Fitness Friday – 5 Things Friday

It’s Friday!

I know most people are super excited that it’s Friday, but I’m not. That means the majority of my vacation is done and over with. I don’t go back until next Thursday, but I am not looking forward to that. Either way, here we are again at my Fitness Friday post.

Fitness-Fridays,-a-blog-link-up-Baby-Doodah-and-The-Panda-PostThis week I thought I’d shake things around her up a little and go with 5 things from the past week, that I thought you should know about.

  • Yesterday I weighed-in for a work incentive. If I had lost 15% of my body weight in 6 months I would have been eligible for a $250 prize. I didn’t get it. 🙁 I was .9 over my goal weight. SO frustrating! I did have 6 months to complete the loss, so the fault lies completely with me, but I’m still frustrated with myself. However, I have the opportunity to lose an additional 15% by January of 2015 to earn $250, so I’ll be focusing on that and I WILL get there.
  • This vacation has been anything BUT productive. I got done the things I absolutely needed to do but getting ahead on my blog, or getting things with my Beachbody business scheduled pretty much did NOT happen. Honestly, though, I’m not all that disappointed. I work my tail off all the time, I deserve some real genuine down time.
  • My sweet baby boy Emmett is going to be TWO YEARS OLD on Tuesday. Can you believe that!? No big parties this year. Since my sister and her family is in town visiting, we’ll have a small dinner at my parent’s house on Saturday. On his actual birthday we’re planning on going to the zoo and then to Friendly’s. I’m hoping my little boy enjoys his special day!! Dear Emmett
  • My eating hasn’t been the greatest this week, but it has not been as bad as vacations in the past. We’ve gone out for lunch a few times and, get this, I’ve actually STOPPED eating when I was full. Like legitimately left 1/2 a sandwich on my plate, because I was full. I felt strong and empowered and in charge of my life when I did this. GO ME!
  • My husband surprised me with a new mouse yesterday, it’s super cute and blue. I’m loving it!!

 Now Onto the Goals

Amount of Weight Lost

I actually didn’t weigh myself this morning. After yesterday’s disappointment of not losing enough to be eligible for the $250, I didn’t want to see what the scale would say this morning.

Don’t worry, I’m not giving up, or quitting, or any other such thing. I simply took a vacation from everything for the week (and it felt good!!!).

Exercise Goals

Last week, I said I wanted to workout 6 days and also run or bike twice. Well, I stuck to part of this. I worked out about 4 times and went on a couple walks with Emmett. Not terrible!

Next week, I want to get back into my focused 21 Day Fix practice. So, 6 days of working out with that and 2 run/walk or bike days.

Food Goals

My plan for this past week was to stick with the Shakeology and 21 Day Fix meal plan. I stuck with Shakeology, but I veered a bit from the actual meal plan. I had some food that doesn’t fit BUT I ate it in moderation and I do not feel guilty.

Next week I’m back on track!! Shakeology and clean eating!

Ashley chose Room By Room Recap – Foyer & Stairs from 702 Park Project. “With an amazing amount of hard work and dedication, Sarah from 702 Park Project turned their green trim, multi-colored walls, and gold carpeting on the stairs to clean and crisp foyer. I’m following along to see the rest of their house renovations!”

Victoria chose What Should A Blogger Do When Her Identity is Revealed? from Surviving & Thriving in the Second Year of My Divorce. “I chose this blog post because of the title. It was interesting and it held my attention so good that it read it entirely.”

Chocolate Peanut Butter Biscotti (7 of 7)

Cathy chose Easy, Delicious, Chocolate Peanut Butter Biscotti Recipe from Tikkido. “We love biscotti and I haven’t made any before…now! I can’t wait to try these Chocolate Peanut Butter Biscotti!!”

Using-Linkys

Alycia chose Using Linkys to Gain Readers, Followers, Friends and Fans from The Mom Maven. “I think this is a great post because I know, as a blogger myself, it can sometimes be difficult to gain followers and really get your blog out there. There often isn’t anyone giving you tips on how to be effective, so I think this is a great tool to use!”

Jillian also chose this post. “We all know that linking up with other blogs is important, but what people don’t realize is that there are right and wrong ways to do it. Cindy does a wonderful job explaining how to get the most out of link-ups and how to follow the rules!!”

April also chose this post. “Many people, including myself, struggle to actually gain a good following from linky parties. I love that Cindy broke it into four easy steps to make your efforts worth it!”

Cilantro-Lime-Shrimp-Avocado-Chickpea-Salad

Katy chose Cilantro Lime Shrimp, Avocado, Chickpea Salad from Luv a Bargain. “Just reading the title of this post made my mouth water. This sounds like such a fabulously tasty combination and the perfect fit for a summer lunch. I can’t wait to give this recipe a try!”

roller-coaster-of-life

Rhonda chose I’m too old for roller coasters from Just A Touch of Crazy. “It’s difficult to admit that you’re maturing and your body can no longer handle things that you once enjoyed. It’s even more difficult to admit it in front of family and friends. I admire this mom’s courage for giving it one last try.”

DSC_0015

Rachel chose Creating a Meal Plan Around Seasonal Produce from Little House Living. “I chose this post because she gives some great recipes for using up seasonal produce and how to get the most out of fresh fruits and veggies. Even if not fresh from a garden, buying vegetables in season is healthy and budget savvy.”

Jessica also chose this post. “Loved it! I was put on a diet restriction by my doctor which consists of eating LOTS of veggies. Eating healthy can get super expensive. Her post came just in time for me! it’s a lot cheaper to buy during the season and of course we can always grow our own food!”

anthropologieknockoffheader

Karen chose Anthropologie Knock-Off: Sharpie Art from Dwell Beautiful. “A great ‘knock-off’ project – a quick and unique way of creating art for the home.”

Watermelon-Smoothie

German-Chocolate-Brownies-Memories-by-the-Mile

Stacey chose German Chocolate Brownies from Memories by the Mile. “When I was growing up my mom would make German Chocolate cake from scratch and it was always one of my favorites. Sadly my kids don’t like coconut or nuts, so I have not been able to make one for years. And as everyone already knows, I love brownies! Especially topped with powdered sugar! These look absolutely divine! Thank you so much for sharing!”

keychain-leather-tassel-tassle-suede-keyring-handmade-DIY-craft-fancy-bracelet-61-1024x782

Tara also chose this post. “I loved reading this post. It made me teary eyed reading Maria’s letter to her unborn child. Being a mom for the first time, I realize all the emotions that you go through while being pregnant, which can become very overwhelming at times. Maria expressed those emotions in her letter to unborn child, I thought it was so sweet!”

My Finds Friday – The Year in Review

Today I’m sharing Baby Doodah’s Year in Review.

Happy Friday everyone!

Is anyone else kind of, sort of glad that the holidays are over, or is that just me? I do enjoy the holidays, the warm fuzzy feelings and the wonderful traditions we’re making with Emmett, but I am a creature of habit and I’m missing my routine. I’m looking forward to getting some extra down time and I’m sure my bank account could use a holiday break too. HAHA I really don’t mean this to be negative, we had a nice holiday season, but I do enjoy not having anything to worry about in the evenings, other then spending time with my family and blogging (my current two favorite things).

Anyhow, this is my first My Finds Friday of the new year, and I’m going to do things a bit differently today. I’m going to share Baby Doodah’s year in review, and highlight some of my most popular or most favorite posts of the past year. So buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride BACK IN TIME! (Not really, just being really goofy.)
