I’m really excited for my Weekly Wishes link-up this week!
Weekly Wishes is a link-up started by Melyssa from The Nectar Collective. It is a place where you can post and share you wishes and goals for the week ahead on your blog, Facebook page, Twitter account, etc and then link it up on Melyssa’s blog. I LOVE doing this because it holds me accountable for the week ahead. I’ve shared my goals with the world (through my blog) and I know people will read and wonder whether I stuck to my goals. It definitely keeps me honest!
It’s Monday again and if you’ve been reading my blog for the past few weeks, you know that every Monday I share my wishes for the week ahead, but before we get into my wishes, let’s talk about the weekend, shall we?
Emmett allowed us to sleep in until 8:30, which felt like such a luxury since I’m usually awake by quarter to 5 every morning. Once awake, we all made breakfast, we each had something different because no one felt like the same thing. Well, Emmett may have liked what either of us were cooking but he had Sunflower butter toast, yogurt and a banana anyway. Saturdays we usually make a toaster pastry and watch Bob the Builder, sadly our cable was out because of the loss of power across Buffalo, so we skipped doing that in the morning. Instead, Emmett and I got dressed and headed to the Farmers Market for our weekly load of fruit and veggies.
Two things, if you’re in Buffalo and you like squash, now is the time to go to the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers market! There were soooo many different varieties, stop in and check them out. Secondly, my favorite cheese guys, First Light Farm and Creamery, will be debuting 2 new Chevre flavors next week. I got a taste of one of them and OH MY GOODNESS was it out of this world! I cannot wait to buy some next week, you should do the same.
Okay, back to our weekend – after the farmers market and a nice nap (for Emmett), we went out for Linner (lunch + dinner). Seamus was feeling like a steak and I wanted a burger, we decided on Texas Roadhouse. We hadn’t been there before so before going we took a peek at the reviews and they were pretty good, but I was not impressed. Our food was was SO salty and just not good, Seamus did like his steak, so there’s that. Anyway, after dinner we headed to Blackman Homestead Farms to pick apples!!! I will share more about this (and the pictures) in another post, but it is important to note that Emmett was so so cute.
Alright, time for Weekly Wishes.
My first goal from last week was to workout 4 times. I can say that I did this, but it comes with a caveat, I didn’t workout hard. I took walks with Emmett. Yes, I realize those count, I’m moving, being active but I want to lose weight and gain muscle. I’m sadly not going to do that by simply taking walks. I need to at least up that to runs or wogs (walk + jog) even. Sorry to be such a downer.
Next up was my goal to take 20 minutes a day and just sit, this was a half success. Ha! I tried just sitting a few mornings in a row and it just wasn’t working for me. Admittedly, I probably could have tried longer, maybe it would have worked then, but I really value my mornings and the time I spend typically writing. What I have done instead, is when I’m rocking Emmett to sleep, I don’t pull out my phone, like I use to. I am using that time to feel myself holding him, feel his warmth and hear his soft breathing, it has done wonders for relaxing me. This is also why I chose the picture that I did, I love cuddling with that monster and it makes me so SO happy!
Finally, I said I wanted to fully involve myself in the Everyday Happy ecourse, I can say this was a complete success. I took the time to reflect on the lessons and journal about them as well. I’m really proud of this, since I admitted last week that I often half-ass things. I’m happy I’m becoming an active participant in MY life.
And now this week’s goals –
- Continue being an active participant in MY life through the Everyday Happy eCourse. I did so well keeping up with my lessons and participating in the class that I want this to continue, putting it out there for the whole online world to see, definitely motivates me to do something about it.
- Create a ‘to do’ list for our home and begin tackling some of those tasks. Our house is a mess, we have a 14 month old baby, of course it’s a mess. But there are some things, that even despite a baby we could tackle to make our house look better. I want to create a task list and get our house in tip top shape, when everything looks better I feel more at peace and able to focus in my environment.
- Workout (at least) 4 Times by following this schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, change clothes at work and come home and either do a wog or ride my bike, with Emmett. Wednesday, change clothes at work and ride my bike. Friday, off. Saturday and Sunday can be any form of cardio, walking, wogging, biking, just as long as I stay active.
Those are my goals for this week, if you know me, please feel free to check-in. I welcome your encouragement!
