Here are the Featured posts from last week!

Kitchen-Basics-101-How-to-carve-a-turkey-1024x1024

Cindy chose Kitchen Basics 101: How to Carve a Turkey from Robyn’s View. “My father always carves the turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas. As much as I hate to admit it, he is getting up there in age. Someone else in the family needs to master this skill. Recently I brought home a rotisserie chicken for dinner and I asked hubby to carve it up and he had no idea how to do it! We hacked away at it but it sure wasn’t pretty. This post gives great instructions on how to accomplish carving a turkey.”

Infused-Water-1024x748

Jillian chose Infused Water from Robyn’s View. “I have always been a fan of water, but nothing tastes better than when you add some fruit and spice it up. It makes it more exciting and means I’m more likely to grab and gulp!”

Real-Brothers-300x200

Meghan chose The Target Effect – Adoption Tales from the Checkout Line from Ripped Jeans & Bifocals. “This is hilarious and sad at the same time. I have not adopted though I have always thought about it. But I would never think to ask someone randomly about their adopted kids. I have the upmost respect for her and everyone else who adopts. People ask the dumbest, and sometimes hurtful, things. Even if you haven’t adopted, you can still relate to dumb questions that you have received while pregnant or after your baby is born … and well in to their life. There are plenty of times I just want to turn around and sock someone.”

FFflowers6

Damjana chose Color Changing Oxeye Daisies from Frogs and Fairies. “Did you know you can even dye daisies!? In real life, not just on a computer screen, using some fancy web design app!!! It was a blast for me when I saw it and I believe you’ll all want to try it out! A wonderful and fresh idea, especially for those of us who’d love a splash of fresh colors. Especially in combination with flowers!”

Tiffany also chose this post. “I picked this post because as soon as I started reading it I went back to the days before my Husbands first deployment and how he treasured every day he could have with our children. Now that he is back we still take the time to have time that is just for him. It is truly so important.”

IMG_9976

Yolanda chose The Importance of Daddy Time from Winks and Eyerolls. “The reason that I picked this is because fatherhood often doesn’t get the amount of attention that it deserves. I also have an amazing husband who is hands on with our son. It is an amazing, and important relationship that exists between a father and their child.”

Butterfinger-Fudge-6

Mari chose Butterfinger Fudge from Gal on a Mission. ” I loved the fact that Chelsea used just 4 ingredients to make this amazing treat. Less was more for sure.”

Silvie also chose this post. “I chose the Butterfinger Fudge Recipe because I like recipes that have simple ingredients and taste yummy. After making this recipe I was amazed at how delicious this fudge comes out!”

Pumpkin-Spice-Bundt-Cake-01

Amy chose Pumpkin Spice Bundt Cake Recipe from The Painted Hinge. “I’m still in Fall mode and this Pumpkin cake may just be my new seasonal favorite. It’s easy to make, has just a few ingredients, and looks delicious!”

BloggingAsAProfssion-01

Stacey chose NaBloPoMo | Blogging As A Profession from New Mama Diaries. “Tenns offered some amazing points to go by for making a professional and well designed site. Thank you so much for sharing!”

Thanksgiving-Turkey-Rice-Krispie-Treats

Rhonda chose Turkey Rice Krispie Treats | Fun Thanksgiving Dessert! from Moms Need To Know. “I always make a Thanksgiving treat for the kids, as none of them are partial to pumpkin or sweet potato pie. These are adorable, and will add a festive touch to the Thanksgiving table.”

quirky-1024x1024

Serena chose 5 Quirky Things… When I don’t know what to write. from Clay Clan Cultivates. “I like it because I feel like this sometimes. I also like it because it will probably not be funny to a non blogger, even though it will be hilarious to a blogger so it’s almost like an inside joke. It’s brilliant! I hate selfies, too…”

Butternut-Squash-Pear-Brown-Rice-Chicken-Soup-Chopped-2-919x1024

Angie chose Butternut Squash, Pear, Brown Rice, Chicken Soup Chopped from The Kitchen Chopper. “I liked it just because it looked delicious & was a unique combination of ingredients.”

PrintableThankYouNotes-580x828

Rebeka chose Writing Charming Thank You Notes (FREE Printable) : Day 12 of 12 Days of Shopping from Pragmatic Mom.

slowcooker

Stasia chose 77 Quick Throw-Together Slow Cooker Meals from Little House Living. “LIfe is very busy (as with most) and I am always looking for quick and easy slow cooker meals. Something I can throw in in the morning before work and is ready by the time everyone gets home. It takes stress off of our lives!”

5-Signs-That-You-Have-A-Threenager

Natasha chose 5 Signs That You Have A Threenager! from Domain of the Mad Mommy. “Love. This. Post. Because I taught I had it so horrible when my son was 2, but now that he’s 3 and losing his mind on a daily occasion, I’m realizing how great 2 really was! The arguments are endless, the fights are senseless, and the tantrums are fruitless – still he continues and still I won’t break! I surely have a threenager!”

Victoria chose How To Not Get Your Feelings Hurt When Blogging from 702 Park Project. “I chose [this post] because this article discusses a topic that I have not seen throughout the web before. As bloggers we will have people say things to us that we do not like and this blog post shows bloggers how to develop a thick layer of skin and not give up blogging because someone has said something about their blog that they do not like.”

Gold-Studded-Plank-Wall

Ashley chose Gold Studded Plank Wall from Houseologie. “This Gold Studded Plank Wall is absolutely amazing! Not only do the planks add texture but the small gold nail heads give the space the perfect amount of glam. Love it!”

Rhonda chose Teaching Your Son to Become a Gentleman from A Cowboy’s Life. “I applaud this mom for taking responsibility for teaching her son to be a gentleman. April chose My Son Found His Passion from Two Teens and Their Mama. “As parents, we strive for our children to be the best… but we also need to remind ourselves, that they need to be the best them, not the best that we want them to be. College is not for everyone and Lana reminds us why and how this is important.”

Sunday Meal Plan – Week #21

Hey everyone!! I hope you all had a really great weekend!

It was an awesome weekend here, super active and a smidge lazy. It felt great! Yesterday, I rode 33 miles for The Ride for Roswell, which I’ll be writing about and sharing my story, tomorrow (be sure to stop by). When we got home, I showered and napped while Emmett napped and then we all went out to a yummy dinner at Friendly’s. Most definitely not the healthiest of food (by ANY means), but I feel like I deserved it after working so hard that morning and afternoon. It was delicious, and I don’t regret a bite!

Today, Emmett had us all up EARLY! We cuddled in bed for awhile and then made our meal plan for the week, showered and headed out the door for groceries. I love shopping early because there are few people in the store and you get through everything quicker. We got home, put the groceries away, watched a little Thomas the Tank Engine (Emmett’s newest obsession), had lunch and then Emmett went down for a nap.

While he was sleeping, Seamus pulled out his pool and the hose and we filled it up so it could warm-up for some play time in the evening. While it was filling I read and relaxed, and then went back to doing laundry. womp. womp.

I wrote a little bit, did some professional development courses online, cleaned (a wee tiny bit), and then Emmett was up. We went to Carter’s, then Target to get things for Emmett. Then back home to change and go play in the pool. He LOVED it! I was worried because last summer he was nervous and didn’t like it, but not this summer. This summer he nearly jumped right in! He was psyched!

Now, I’m here writing and getting things ready for the week ahead. I’m excited because it’s a four day week! WOOHOO!

My-Weekend-Link-up-BabyDoodah

This Week’s Meal Plan

Sunday: cheeseburgers & baked chips (we’re avoiding the oven, the humidity is insane)

Monday: Grilled chicken & Zucchini Salad

Tuesday: Teriyaki Pork Loin & Corn on the Cobb

Wednesday: Mexican Pizzas (I hope it’s a cooler day, because these require the oven)

Thursday: Steak, Chick Pea & Tomato Salad (YUM!)

Friday: Orange Chicken & Rice (carry-over & I hope it’s cool)

Saturday: Mom’s house for a cookout

We’re trying so SO hard to keep things out of the oven. We were stumped this week, probably because Emmett had us up so early and we were tired, but we ended up with a couple oven meals. We’ll just need to watch the forecast slowly.

I am super excited for the cookout next weekend, at my mom’s. It’s always laid back when we’re there, which I appreciate! Plus, Emmett will love seeing his grandma. <3

Here’s the video of Emmett sliding down the slide this evening.

Your turn!

What are you cooking (or not cooking) up this week?

What fun things did you do to keep cool?

I’m linking up with Laura from Mommy, Run Fast! and Jill from jillconyers.com – please join me and link-up your best meal planning posts.

super easy oreo balls 4

cobbler2

Rebecca chose Simple Homemade Peach Cobbler from Little House Living. “It’s a simple recipe but presented so beautifully and sounds yummy too!”

r

Kae chose Initial Penny Art from Miss Mash DIY. “I chose [this post] because it’s a beautiful design and also very easy to do. I also like that it’s something that we all have around the house, under the seats of the couch, in out pocketbooks, also in our penny piggy bank. It’s a pretty DIY project and the kids will love it too. Why not make those “useless” pennies useful for artwork.”

blogu22

Jillian chose Top 10 Things I Learned at BlogU from The Coconut Head’s Cancer Survival Guide. “The reason I chose this post was because it gives some great ideas on getting focused with your blog and what steps you can take to get even further ahead, but the tips aren’t blog-centric, they can AND will benefit anyone.”

Carolyn chose Toddlers’ Summer To-Do List from This Is Motherhood. “It made me laugh and was dead on accurate!”

chocolate lava cake

Stacey chose Chocolate Lava Cake from Ducks ‘n a Row. “Oh my, this looks absolutely divine! Every year for my birthday, we try to go to our local Hometown Buffet because they have a desert that they call a Hot Fudge Sundae cake, very much like this Chocolate Lava cake, that is my absolute favorite desert. This is something I could happily eat them all and simply skip dinner! I will definitely be trying it! Thank you so much for sharing!”

Tenns chose Design Your Own Business Cards in PicMonkey from Blog U. “This post was my favorite, because it was thorough, instructional, and definitely something a blogger or business owner needs in their toolkit. I really liked that Chelsey included screenshots in her step by step process for making the business cards. I also thought it was great that she used a free and economical program like PicMonkey. Just goes to show that you don’t need or have to use high-end or fancy programs to create a nice card.”

Fitness Friday – A Brand New Link-Up

Let’s get ready to PARTY! It’s Friday and that means it’s Fitness Friday time!

Guys! I’m super duper excited because a friend of mine and I have decided to join forces and create a brand-spankin-new fitness/health focused link-up. This is going to be so much fun, and it will be recurring post, happening on Fridays!

Fitness-Fridays

Introductions

I’d like to introduce you to Kathy from The Panda Post. Her blog is focused on leading a healthy life, through healthy eating and exercise. She is super active and willing to try just about any workout, which really inspires me to try something new and different (something I struggle with). You can also check her out on Facebook, by clicking here.

Fitness-Friday---KathyOur link-up is going to be a bit different than some link-ups because our posts will not be exactly the same. We will have a common theme between blogs, but what we write about will be entirely different (or possibly the same, if we feel similarly). This week, we decided our theme would be (drum roll please)….

How to fit in workouts while traveling

I honestly don’t travel a lot, hardly ever, actually. Except to my parents for the day, but the few times that I did stay overnight in a hotel, the easiest way for me to get in a workout, was to bring workout DVDs from home. They’re compact (so they pack easily), they don’t require you to leave your hotel room and go workout in the hotel gym (not that there’s anything wrong with doing that), and it requires very little motivation to get started. The most you need to do is convince yourself to get off the couch and put the DVD in. 😉

There are loads of places to get workout DVDs, but my current personal favorite would have to be the Beachbody site. I realize you probably think I’m just saying that because I’m now a Beachbody coach, but I assure you that is not even remotely why. The workouts available through Beachbody consist of P90x, TurboFire, Insanity, 21 day FIX (my current workout, more on this in a second) and plenty more are freakin amazing! They’ve changed people’s lives, made stronger more confident individuals and I’m truly happy to be a part of that bunch.

So yes, I’m a Beachbody coach, but that doesn’t mean that I am biased. I know a good workout, I used to be in amazing shape and the workouts I’ve done through Beachbody are some serious muscle building workouts!

If you’re traveling, there are a few other sites that you can check-out for DVDs, but you can also stream a lot of workouts on your iPad or other tablet, and even some hotels (or if you’re staying with relatives) have ways you can stream them right through their wifi and TV.

One thing I will say, is that you should not let vacations derail any progress that you’ve made!

Onto the Goals

Amount of Weight Lost

I stayed exactly the same as last week, but I am  not even remotely upset. I know I worked hard, ate well – so the weight will eventually come up!

Exercise Goals

Last week, I stated that I wanted to complete 7 days of 30 minute workouts, following the 21 day FIX schedule. Well…Success!! I didn’t do 7 days, but that’s simply because I started on Monday, but I’ve worked out every single day since then. I feel amazing, I’m so sore (a good sore), but my mood is soaring!

This week, I’d like to continue to focus on my 21 day FIX workouts and do the scheduled video each night. 30 minute workouts may not seem like much, but when they are as intense as these are, 30 minutes is plenty. Seriously! Such an amazing workout!

Food Goals

Last week I said I wanted to follow the 21 day FIX meal plan, once again, I can report SUCCESS! Man is it fun coming on here and reporting successes.

I ate so well for the entire week, I was drinking my Shakeology, feeling fueled and not stuffed (which is a great feeling), and my cravings were minimal. I can’t wait to continue with this same goal, next week!

Alright, folks, since we’re still hammering out the details on how this blog hop will work, for now, feel free to link-up any of your fitness related posts. You should absolutely try following your hosts on their social media, but also check-out some of the other blogs linked up. Nothing says party, like mingling! 🙂
