Happy Easter to all of my Baby Doodah! readers. I hope you were all able to enjoy the beautiful day!
We had a really awesome day in our household, well mostly. Emmett decided to wake up in the middle of the night and refused to sleep alone for a couple hours, but despite the middle of the night wake up, we had a wonderful day.
Emmett woke us up for good around 7, while Seamus went in to change his diaper, I played Easter Bunny bringing in Emmett’s basket of goodies. Emmett was super excited to see it and went right to work pulling everything out to look at, and then play with it. He got a couple coloring books, crayons, a new book, a stuffed duck, a duck for the tubby, a set of Daniel Tiger figurines, Trolley from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and a container of Goldfish (his favorite snack). I’m guessing he loved everything because he kept hopping from toy to toy.
On a side note, if you’re looking for a show for your child to watch that is wholesome, and teaches great lessons, I highly recommend you check-out Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on PBS.
Anyway, back to how we spent our day, after Emmett got to play (and eat Goldfish for breakfast), we all got dressed and went grocery shopping. We knew we wouldn’t have time later because my sister was coming into town for brunch and to visit for the day. It was an AWESOME shopping trip, it was so dead in there, that we were in and out.
Once back home we put groceries away and waited for Bridget to get here so we could all go to Statler City for brunch. I was so so excited to go and partake in their buffet, but I have to be honest, it was pretty disappointing. The food was alright, certainly not terrible, but definitely not worth the $36 per person price tag. Where they really lacked, is their service. It was pretty awful! When we arrived and were seated, our waitress wouldn’t leave us alone, literally coming back every minute or so to check on us. However after a few more tables were sat in her section, she literally forgot about us. Seamus asked for juice a couple different times and she forgot, we asked for milk for Emmett, she forgot. We needed refills on water for almost 20 minutes, before she realized. I’m not that finicky, I don’t expect perfect service, but I do expect to be tended to reasonably well when I am paying so much for my meal. The one very positive thing I will say about Statler City, is that it is absolutely beautiful inside. It took my breath away, how stunning it was.
Back home, after 3 bites of chocolate, Emmett was a crazy, hyper monster! It was well past his nap time, but I knew there was no way he was relaxing and going to sleep, so instead we all played and kept him entertained. We turned on Seasame Street and finally he started to zone out. We were all about to crash in the living room, when Seamus took Emmett to his bed. He was out for a couple of hours and much happier and calmer when he awoke. Bridget, also crashed out on the living room floor. She looked pretty comfy, too!
After Doodah’s nap we all headed outside to burn off some energy. We ran around the backyard for a good hour or so. Aunt Bridget got Emmett some new bubbles so we took those out and played with them. We also slid down the slide, spun around and plain ole’ acted goofy. It was a lot of fun! I’m really enjoying having a nice big, fenced in back yard.
It was a really really great day, and I’m so happy that I got to spend it with my family!
