Happy April 17th! The day AFTER my birthday.
Yep, yesterday was my birthday, but since I did the 33 little known facts about me, I didn’t get to tell you about my day. So today, I am. 🙂
First off the evening beforehand started out perfectly, the tenants below us were silent, which allowed Seamus and I to enjoy our evening. I’m looking at it as their birthday gift to me. hehe I woke up at my usual time and had some of my delicious coffee, and sat down to work on my blog. I can’t even express how happy it makes me to write, and starting my day this way is just wonderful!
While everyone continued to sleep, I got to shower with the light of the rising sun. I know that might sound really cheesy, but it is one of my favorite things to just shower by daylight. Something about it feels so spa-like. Once I was done, and started to wake everyone else in the house up, I got loads of birthday wishes from my main squeeze. Plus, Emmett was being super cute!
Usually putting my make-up on in the mornings is pretty difficult, but Emmett was such a good boy. He sat at the table coloring using the new magic ink marker and book his Uncle John got him. 🙂 It’s so much fun watching Emmett’s skills grow and grow!
Once I got to work, I was super surprised because my employees had gone and bought me a bunch of scratch-off tickets. It was completely unexpected, and meant a lot to me. Plus I got to enjoy a delicious chocolate chip muffin and a coffee from Tim Horton’s, it doesn’t get much better (That’s a lie, the day got much better).
My sister Bridget and I SnapChat each other, periodically throughout the day. Well, I was pretty darn excited when I opened the SnapChat app, and even THEY remembered my birthday. Every Snap I got, was wrapped up like a little present. So so cute! It’s the little things.
The rest of the morning flew by and then my boss took me out for a delicious lunch at Sea Bar, one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Every time I go, I order the Cuban sandwich, and every single time it is delicious, and their fries are amazing. I feel very fortunate that I have a boss who cares enough to celebrate with us. Thanks dude!! 🙂
When we got back to work, I had a voicemail on my work phone from our delivery area. They were calling to let me know that I’d had flowers delivered. Seamus completely surprised me! I was not expecting them in the least, and they’re absolutely gorgeous, they’ll be even more stunning as they open.
After lunch, my employees surprised me once again! I was asked to cover a meeting and when I walked into the conference room, they were all there with decorations up and a HUGE ice cream cake, my favorite! It was awesome to just sit there and chat with them for a bit while we all enjoyed our cake. It was darn good cake, and once again I realized how fortunate I am.
Seamus picked Emmett up from day care for me, so I got to just head home and then we all went out to Friendly’s for dinner. I chose Friendly’s since it is a family restaurant, which allows Seamus and I the ability to have a conversation, even if Emmett is being loud. You don’t get funny looks if your kid is noisy when you eat at Friendly’s. The food, of course, was delicious, so bad for me, but drool-worthy.
Then it was back home for some family time, and Emmett’s bedtime. Once Emmett was in bed, Seamus and I got to enjoy some of the delicious jell-o poke cake he made me, with some Friendly’s French Vanilla on the side. Om nom nom!
In case you’re wondering, I did allow myself to eat gluten yesterday. I really wanted to just relax and enjoy my day, and I did just that. I don’t regret it at all.
It was an absolutely amazing day, and I am truly so so lucky to be surrounded by people who care and love me as much as they do. On days when I feel all alone, I will reflect on the amazing people in my life and how they helped celebrate my special day.
Thank you all!
